About Volt Active Data

Volt Active Data enables global organizations to power real-time business opportunities and instantly derive value from anomalous events captured across multiple streams of fast data. Precise decisions, made in less than 10ms, can directly influence in-the-moment monetization, prevent digital fraud, and power digital transformation initiatives.

Volt Active Data is purpose-built to address application-specific scale and latency challenges and augment your previous big data and messaging investments to help businesses evolve from big data analytics to fast data decisions.

How We Began

Architected by the 2014 A.M. Turing Award winner, Dr. Michael Stonebraker, Volt Active Data is a ground-up redesign of the relational database for today’s convergence of 5G, machine learning, artificial intelligence and advanced data analytics. Dr. Stonebraker has conducted research on database technologies for more than 40 years, leading to numerous innovations in fast data, streaming data and in-memory databases. He founded Ingres, Postgres, Streambase, Vertica, Volt Active Data and Tamr.

With Volt Active Data, he realized the full potential of tapping streaming data with in-memory transactional database technology that can handle 5G speed and volume while delivering real-time decision making.

Dr. Stonebraker is an adjunct professor at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (MIT CSAIL).
