Volt Active Data Partners With AWS to Bring Decision Intelligence to the Edge

September 23, 2021

Volt Active Data and AWS have partnered to make the Volt Active Data Platform available in AWS Wavelength, a new and already publicly available AWS Infrastructure offering optimized for mobile edge computing applications and designed to drive and enable ultra-low latency on 5G devices.

“We’re thrilled to offer the Volt Active Data Platform in AWS Wavelength to help power the ultra-low latency applications that 5G now makes possible,” said Volt Active Data Chief Product Officer Dheeraj Remella. “Using Volt Active Data and Wavelength together, enterprises, and communications service providers (CSPs) will be able to fully monetize 5G through ultra low latency applications that can process extremely high volumes of fast data in real time.”

AWS Wavelength enables customers to take full advantage of 5G’s latency and bandwidth benefits via “Wavelength Zones” that embed AWS compute and storage services within CSP data centers at the 5G network edge. These zones provide servers that 5G applications can access without having to leave the telecommunications network, thus avoiding the latency that would result from having to traverse multiple hops across the Internet to reach their destination.

By deploying the Volt Active Data Platform in AWS Wavelength, enterprises will be able to leverage Volt Active Data’s low-latency decision intelligence within the network edge, allowing them to be able to get to decisions and relevant actions before their data loses value. This extreme proximity of decisioning intelligence to the 5G network edge will allow companies to unlock the full value of their real-time, 5G-powered data.

One clear example of a Volt Active Data-AWS Wavelength partnership use case is traffic congestion management. Traffic congestion leads to $87 billion in lost productivity per year, with Boston and Chicago at the top of the list. Quite a few cities with bad traffic congestion have implemented AI-based, real-time analytics to reduce jams and improve traffic flow. Using a combination of mobile data, smart traffic lights, and remote-controllable LED traffic sign posts, cities can regulate traffic in real time to prevent congestion. AWS Wavelength, combined with what Volt Active Data brings, can provide a significant advantage in reclaiming the traffic-related lost productivity in these cities.

As CSP network availability increases, these types of use cases will become standard beneficiaries of deploying Volt Active Data on AWS Wavelength.

AWS Wavelength Zones are now available in 10 cities across the U.S. on Verizon’s 5G network, in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan on the KDDI 5G network, in Daejeon, South Korea on SK Telecom’s 5G network, and in London on the Vodafone 5G network.

“This is a great opportunity for us and any current or future Volt Active Data customer,” Remella said. “Helping CSPs and 5G platform builders take full advantage of their 5G data fits perfectly with Volt Active Data’s mission and we couldn’t be more excited to see the real-world results of this partnership.”

AWS Wavelength is live and available for use right now by any enterprise seeking to fully capitalize on the power of edge computing. For more information or to get started today, contact sales@voltactivedata.com
